New generation ruggedized hand held imager

“For some time we get information from the market that users of conventional laser scanning devises have trouble with data collecting. Especially users in logistics and in distribution environments like parcel distribution”, says Mr. Mario Van Eijk, Key Account Manager with Datalogic Scanning for the Benelux in Nieuwegein (The Netherlands).
“We know that imagers are becoming more popular for several reasons. One of them is that they are less vulnerable where it comes to dust and moisture. It also supports quality procedures and improves cost reduction and cost control. Thus because the updated database information informs as well financial departments as purchasers. They can make sure correct invoices are made in time and new materials are also ordered Just In Time. In parcel distribution the new imager helps delivery employees to registry faultless in what moment a certain parcel or value document has been received or handed over to the addressee. It is also very useful in warehouse transactions for registry orderpick moments, stock locations and in goods distribution when lorry drivers deliver pallets or rolling containers. Just scan the bar code with the imager and the files in the hostcomputer are updated.

Fast imager

For all this you just need an fast scanning system. It happens to be that the Powerscan® PD7100 nowadays is the fastest ‘imager’ in the market with its 390 scans per second. It also reads really every linear bar code! Even the very small ones or damaged codes. Its lens focuses automatically to the reading distance so you can scan in direct contact as well up to a distance of three meters. Which of course is as mentioned very useful in warehouses in picking or storage activities.
Remember that an ‘imager’ is not a conventional laser bar code scanner. Scanners reflect the bar code and directly translate the coded information into file information for the hostcomputer. Imagers make an image – like a snapshot – which is a total different process. But the new generation imagers also immediately translate the image into database information and this means a real time file entrance. The automatic focus leads to an excellent reading performance (depth of field and field of view). It allows you to scan even bar codes of 3 mils high!

The Powerscan® PD7100 is well ruggedized and withstands any fall to a concrete floor from over 1,50 meter. New industrial Powerscan® PD7100 is suitable for many applications.
